Kumogakure is the Hidden Village of the Land of Lightning. As one of the five Great Ninja Villages, Kumogakure has a Kage as its leader known as the Raikage. Use of lightning release techniques and swords seem to be common of ninja from this village. The village is located in a range of tall mountains, and is literally hidden in the clouds. Located somewhere within the Land of Lightning's many mountain ranges is a valley called the Valley of Clouds and Lightning. It's a water-filled valley covered in clouds and fog. Many a ninja have only come upon this place once, but new imporvments to the map of Kaminari no Kuni has shown the most probable location of this valley.
In the Land of Lightning, there is a gigantic and ancient turtle that Kumogakure has cared for since its founding. It serves as a training ground for the Kumo ninja, and is described as a moving fortress. Its size is so great that it can host other large animals as well as other natural and man-made structures. It is considered to be the equivalent of Konoha's Forest of Death.
